Louie French has written to HSBC to express his extreme disappointment and concern over the decision to close the HSBC branch on Sidcup High Street.
In his letter, Louie stated he is concerned over the impact of the branch closure given the significant reliance local residents and businesses place on local banking, particularly vulnerable and elderly residents. Louie has also asked to meet with HSBC to discuss local banking needs across Old Bexley Sidcup and to ensure appropriate support will be given to local customers.
HSBC announced the Sidcup branch will close on 9th August 2022 due to the reduction of the number of customers using HSBC branches and the majority of bank transactions being completed via telephone, internet or smartphone.
HSBC have advised that accounts held at this branch will now be administered from the Orpington branch which is the nearest alternative branch at 249 High Street, Orpington, Kent, BR6 0NR. There are also HSBC branches at Bromley, Woolwich and Dartford and HSBC customers can access their bank account at Post Office branches for cash withdrawals, cash deposits, cheque deposits and balance enquiries.
