Louie French visited Battersea Dogs and Cats Home to discuss animal welfare legislation and meet some of the cats and dogs of Battersea, including Fred the Spaniel, Wilbur the Labrador and Parker the Kitten as pictured above.
Louie discussed the strengthening of animal welfare which is something he campaigns for and strongly supports the upcoming animal welfare legislation introduced by the Government including new laws to tackle puppy smuggling, compulsory cat microchipping and increased sentencing for dog theft.
On his visit, Louie was given a tour of the dogs home, the cats home and the state-of-the-art facilities Battersea have in their veterinary department and hydrotherapy centre. Louie also met the staff and volunteers at Battersea who have a clear passion and work tirelessly to give the dogs and cats everything they need during their time at Battersea.
Commenting, Louie said:
“I was delighted to visit Battersea Dogs and Cats Home today to see their incredible work in helping every dog and cat in need, as well as meeting some of the cute residents.”
“I would like to thank all staff, volunteers and donors of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home who work hard and have a clear passion to ensure they are there for every dog and cat.”
“Like myself, the constituents of Old Bexley and Sidcup are passionate about their pets and animal welfare, so I look forward to continuing to work with Battersea to build a better world for dogs and cats.”
