Our local community are hugely supportive of honouring our serving and fallen heroes, including those who made the ultimate sacrifice on D Day 80 years ago. It was a great honour to participate in the thoughtful and moving services in Old Bexley and Sidcup, including the parade and service in Bexley Village, the wreath laying service in Sidcup, and the RBL Honour Walk in Danson Park.
It was particularly moving to hear of the stories of seven local D Day heroes from Bexley who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.
June also saw our community and country mark Armed Forces Day, with excellent events taking place at the United Services Club in Sidcup and special screenings at the Sidcup Storyteller.
Alongside these special events to recognise those currently serving and our veterans, I am pleased to be working with individuals and groups in our community to improve the local support available to servicemen and servicewomen.
