Louie French, Member of Parliament for Old Bexley and Sidcup, has welcomed the opening of Welling's brand new Banking Hub.
Located near Morrisons, the Welling Banking Hub is one of the first in the UK, with the major banks rotating each day at the Hub.
It was secured following a local campaign led by local Councillors, businesses and Welling's two MPs, Louie and Sir David Evennett MP.
The Hub will provide counter services by the major banks in one place to carry out regular cash transactions alongside a one-to-one service for customers with more complicated issues to talk with their own banking provider on a weekly rotation basis as set out below:
Monday: HSBC
Tuesday: NatWest
Wednesday: Lloyds
Thursday: Barclays
Friday: Santander (am)
Louie is also continuing to campaign for a Banking Hub in Sidcup, which you can support the petition via the campaigns page.
Commenting, Louie said:
“As the first homegrown MP for Old Bexley and Sidcup, I am delighted that we have successfully secured and opened one of the first banking hubs in the country.
This is a major boost for Welling businesses and residents, with multiple banks now providing services to their customers on a rotational basis from the hub.
I would like to thank everyone involved with this project, including Cash Access, local Councillors, Link, the banks involved and the Post Office.
I fully recognise the significant importance local businesses and residents place on local banking services, particularly elderly and vulnerable residents and I will continue to stand up for access to cash and banking services.”
