Louie French, the local Conservative candidate for the upcoming by-election on 2 December, welcomed the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, to Sidcup and Welling over the weekend.
Firstly, Louie was on hand to welcome the Prime Minister to Sidcup, where they visited Aspire Pharmacy to thank the team and volunteers for all of their efforts in rolling out Covid vaccines and booster jabs. This was a special moment for Louie because Mohammed and the team at Aspire had given Louie his vaccine a few months ago. It also isn't every day that our Prime Minister visits Sidcup, so Louie took the opportunity to highlight the excellent Sidcup Rugby and Sports Club to Boris.
On Saturday, Louie then welcomed the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, to Welling, where they met some of our brilliant local businesses and community leaders. Louie and Rishi spent time discussing cuts to business rates to help local shops, Louie's plans to help local high streets and some of the special grant schemes that Louie launched earlier in the year to help local firms, pubs and sports clubs survive Covid. They also recieved a number of traditional blessings from Bexley's Nepalese and Indian community leaders.
Louie was also joined by the former Prime Minister, Theresa May, on the doorsteps of Blendon on Saturday afternoon, where they enjoyed speaking with local residents on a range of local and national issues.
Commenting on the visits Louie said, "It has been an exciting weekend for all of us locally and I would like to thank all of our special guests for taking the time to visit and to discuss the local issues that I am campaigning on. I am also really pleased that many of our excellent local businesses and community groups have had their services highlighted during these visits. Supporting local people and businesses is my number one prioirty and I was delighted to attend a range of community events over the weekend alongside these visits and knocking on doors".
