Louie French, Member of Parliament for Old Bexley and Sidcup, and Cllr Richard Diment, Cabinet Member for Education in Bexley, have today welcomed news from the Government and Office for Students that Rose Bruford College in Sidcup is one of six providers that will receive the maximum national support of £1m per annum for the academic years 2022-23 to 2026-27.
This funding is aimed at improving teaching and access to performing arts courses at specialist higher education providers across England and it will support many local students in Bexley and South East London.
Commenting Louie said:
"This is truly excellent news that Rose Bruford will receive the maximum funding of £1m each year to support the delivery of its specialist courses to students right here in Sidcup.
I am very grateful to Ministers and the Office for Students for making this funding decision, which is a further boost to education funding in Bexley, following the additional £2bn announced for school budgets in the Autumn Statement and the 7 local schools in Bexley that were successful in bidding for funding for new school buildings and playgrounds.
As the local MP it is my pleasure to support many of these bids and I will be keeping my fingers crossed for more good news in the next funding round!"
Commenting Richard said:
"I am delighted that Rose Bruford College has secured this grant. It is a vote of confidence in the students and staff. They are a great asset for the community in Bexley".
