Louie French has taken the oath of allegiance to the Crown to take his seat as the newly elected Member of Parliament for Old Bexley and Sidcup in the House of Commons.
Members of both Houses of Parliament are required by law to take an oath of allegiance to the Crown before taking their seats in Parliament.
For his oath of allegiance, Louie repeated the following words:
“I swear by Almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, her heirs and successors, according to law. So help me God.”
Commenting, Louie said:
“It is an honour to be sworn into the House of Commons to serve the people of Old Bexley and Sidcup, a place I have called home all of my life.”
“I was extremely grateful for the warm welcome from The Speaker and friends across the House. I now look forward to representing the people of Old Bexley and Sidcup in the House of Commons, working tirelessly on the priorities of constituents and delivering on the promises that I made during my campaign.”
