Louie French, Member of Parliament for Old Bexley and Sidcup, has today announced that he is one of the Conservative MPs supporting an amendment to the law that would give local councils more power to help stop the unfair ULEZ expansion to Bexley and Greater London.
Commenting Louie said:
The Labour Mayor of London has refused to listen to Londoners and has ignored the duties local councils have over air quality, as set out in our attached letter.
We have been working hard on this issue behind the scenes and a special thanks must be given to my colleagues David Simmonds MP and Lord Moylan for their efforts in tabling the amendment to the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill. This amendment would give local Councils a final say over the ULEZ expansion.
We hope the Government will support it given their concerns over ULEZ expansion and that Labour and the Lib Dems will not try to block it in the House of Lords. They were wrong to back Sadiq Khan over hardworking Londoners and must start listening.
We promised to fight Sadiq Khan’s greenwashed ULEZ tax raid all the way on the behalf of Bexley residents and this is what we continue to do.
