In his first weekend as the Member of Parliament for Old Bexley and Sidcup, Louie was delighted to support Small Business Saturday and visited many of the great businesses we have across the constituency.
Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.
Louie met with various business owners in Old Bexley, Sidcup and Welling and discussed ways to improve and support our local high streets, including increasing footfall, arranging new community events and securing inward investment to ensure low shop vacancy rates.
Louie has always been an advocate for Bexley’s businesses and shopping local, even more so following the impact of the pandemic. Last year, Louie launched the first grant scheme in the country to help local businesses, pubs, sports and social clubs survive the winter lockdown.
In the lead up to Christmas, Louie will continue to promote and support local businesses.
Commenting, Louie said:
“Local businesses lie at the heart of Old Bexley and Sidcup and we are lucky to have a range of fantastic small and independent businesses that play a key part in supporting our local economy and jobs.”
“I look forward to meeting plenty more local businesses in the weeks ahead and to working alongside them to ensure Bexley continues to be a great place for small businesses.
