Louie has described the naming of a new CityBeam Class 707 train in honour of James Brokenshire as a perfect tribute to James, who was an avid campaigner for better train services and for new, modern trains on the Southeastern network.
The decision to celebrate his life and legacy was taken by Southeastern Trains, which will operate the train, and Siemens Mobility, which made the train. The companies unveiled the City Beam train today, alongside Louie, James’ wife and children, and Rail Minister, Wendy Morton MP.
The new 707 trains on the Southeastern route are best in class and will deliver an improved rail experience with greater capacity and reliability for commuters, an example of the improvements James wanted for constituents which Louie will continue to campaign for with Transport Ministers, Southeastern and Network Rail.
Commenting, Louie said:
“James was a passionate campaigner for improvements on our local rail services with a keen dedication for constituents to benefit from new and modern trains. The naming of unit 707005 is therefore a fitting tribute to James and a reflection of the improved rail experience James and I have wanted to see for constituents.”
“I will continue to build on James’ extensive campaigning efforts and dedication to secure better trains and better train services on the Southeastern network for local constituents and commuters.”
