Protecting Bexley’s green and pleasant land

Bexley is home to many fantastic parks and green spaces that we all enjoy. I will always support community volunteers and have worked hard with local residents to oppose inappropriate developments, including on the green belt near Bexley Village.

We need family housing, but Labour’s plans to weaken the green belt protections risk turning beautifully green Bexley into Lewisham.

Bexley Conservatives introduced an Article 4 Directive requiring Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs) to apply for planning permission, protecting against some issues with these properties. However, problems remain, and I have supported hundreds of residents concerned about HMOs on quiet residential roads.

Given the Labour Party’s plans to give the Mayor new planning powers and freedoms, preventing Labour from sneaking in the back door in Bexley will be critical to protecting our green spaces.
